This page exists because the single most common promise in this industry is one nobody is able to keep. It is worth being direct about that before you spend anything.

No guaranteed rankings or AI placement

I do not guarantee that your business will be named by ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Copilot or any other answer engine. I do not guarantee a position in Google's results, a citation, an increase in traffic, an increase in enquiries, or any revenue figure.

No consultant can guarantee those things, including the ones who do. Every one of those outcomes is produced by a third party system that is privately operated, changes without notice, and owes neither of us an explanation.

What is being sold is the work: the audits, the technical fixes, the structured data, the entity consistency, the content and the monitoring described on the pricing page. That work is what raises the probability of being named. Probability is the honest word, and anyone offering you certainty in this category is selling something else.

What is and is not in my control

The distinction is worth drawing precisely, because it is the whole basis of the engagement.

Within my control

  • Whether AI crawlers can reach your site at all, and whether that is verifiable in your server logs
  • Whether your content states its answers plainly enough to be quoted
  • Whether your structured data is valid, accurate and matches what is visible on the page
  • Whether the description of your business is consistent everywhere a model might check
  • Whether the testing is run honestly and reported without decoration

Outside anyone's control

  • Which sources a model chooses to cite on a given day
  • When a model is retrained, replaced or silently adjusted
  • How a platform ranks, filters or personalizes its answers
  • What your competitors do in the same window
  • Whether a platform decides to stop naming businesses in your category at all

I work on the first list. The second list is weather.

Why AI answers are hard to measure

Answer engines do not return a stable result the way a search ranking does. The same question asked twice can produce different answers, and that is a property of the systems rather than a fault in the testing.

Results vary with the account asking, the location it is asked from, the model version being served, whether the system chose to browse the live web, the phrasing of the question, and in several products a deliberate element of randomness. A business named first in one session may be absent from the next with nothing having changed in between.

This is why the monitoring here is run as repeated prompts over time rather than as a single check, and why the reports show transcripts rather than a score. A single result is an anecdote. A pattern across repeated runs is evidence, and it is still evidence about tendencies rather than a guarantee about tomorrow.

What the reports do and do not prove

A report shows what a specific set of prompts returned, on specific dates, under the conditions recorded alongside them. That is a real measurement and it is a narrow one.

It is not proof that every buyer sees the same thing, that a change I made caused a change you observed, or that the pattern will hold next month. Where a result looks like it was caused by a particular fix, I will say what makes me think so and how confident that is. Where a number moved and I do not know why, I will say that instead.

The writing on this site is not advice

The blog and the notes are published to be useful and are written from real engagements. They are general information about a fast moving field, not advice for your particular situation, and not legal, financial, or professional advice of any kind.

Technical instructions on this site, including anything involving robots.txt, firewall rules, structured data or server configuration, are given in good faith and should be tested against your own setup before being applied. A robots.txt change made carelessly can remove a site from search entirely. Read what you are about to do, and keep a way back.

Everything published here is accurate as far as I know on the day it is published. In a field where the platforms change monthly, some of it will age badly. Where a post carries statistics, they are attributed to a named source so you can check whether they still hold.

Links to other sites are provided because they are useful. I do not control them and am not responsible for what they say or do.

ChatGPT, OpenAI, Perplexity, Gemini, Google, Bing, Copilot, Claude and every other product named on this site belong to their respective owners. Naming them describes what the work involves. It does not imply endorsement, partnership, affiliation or certification, and none of those relationships exist.
